"The trains put the oceanfront finally within the reach of the new metropolitan masses; the beach became a finish line for a weekly exodus that has the urgency of a jailbreak."
-Rem Koolhass, Delirious, New York
The project embodies the visual, the historic, the sensual, and the local forces within its context. As five train lines terminate at this point, it becomes a major hub.... a terminus point.... a destination. In plan, four systems of movement occur. They are the sloping s-curve of the tracks, the linear paths directly through the station, and the two skewed commercial zones. The station will thus become a multi programmatic space infused with indigenous commercial businesses, arcades, used furniture shops and along with station functions.
